Every year I look forward to Mary Meeker’s internet trends report. Mary is one of the thoughtful, analytical thought leaders in the technology space. Different from other presentation that rely on subjective opinion, Mary’s analysis is always strongly backed by numbers.
This year’s presentation was remarkable. Within the 213 slides, there are a few key points that were clearly highlighted:
- Internet growth is slowing down: The internet growth in 2015 remained flat in 2015. More importantly, the trend is also notable in fast growing economies like China.
- Conversation might become an important aspect of the next generation of user interfaces.
- Messaging apps can become a secondary home screen.
- Voice driven search is becoming a relevant form of search
